Sexual Violence Prevention Education

Supporting Student Safety

The safety and well-being of our students are important to us. As part of a statewide initiative to strengthen student safety, the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education requires all schools to provide Sexual Violence Prevention Education Program for Department schools.

The purpose of this instruction is to provide students with developmentally appropriate information and skills that help them recognize unsafe situations, establish and respect personal boundaries, seek assistance from trusted adults, and know how to report concerns.

Moanalua Elementary School will use HIDOE approved instructional materials from Fight Child Abuse, Rights, Respect, Responsibility, and NetSmartz. We strongly encourage you to review your child’s grade-level lessons and the available instructional materials in the table and links below. Parents and legal guardians may request in writing that their child not participate in Sexual Violence Prevention instruction before we start in November 2026. A student who is opted out will receive an alternative learning activity and will not receive an academic or disciplinary penalty for nonparticipation.
