Welcome to A6!
We dived into our curriculum this week. Students explored and learned about volume by building their own unit cube, drawing different models, and using manipulative to show different rectangular prisms. We will continue to learn more about volume this coming week as well. During RTI math time, the focus is on multiplication. Please have your child continue to practice studying multiplication facts. We also started our first Reading Wonders Unit. Students are learning how to use context clues when reading to figure out a meaning of a word and are practicing the rereading strategy. Students created vocabulary squares for our words this past week and will have their first vocabulary test next week. During RTI reading time, students will have more opportunities to practice context clues and will begin word study this week. For social studies, students are learning about Native Americans.
Just a few reminders: Please continue to sign your child's reading log, SPIN, and planner daily. In addition, please continue to sign the online homework logs by Friday. Please encourage your child to get their online iready and kidbiz lessons done each week. Thank you for your continued support! Last, but not least, we finished our ALOHA wall. Stay safe!
All students were able to finish their self portraits and poems about themself. They all worked so hard and enjoyed painting their portrait. Their portraits are hung up around the classroom and will be sent home at the end of the year. All students are now linked to my google classroom and were introduced to flipgrid. Students enjoyed the virtual "Welcome Back Assembly".
Please continue to sign your child's SPIN, planner and reading log daily. Online homework folders for kidbiz and i-ready online lessons are due every Friday. Every Monday your child will receive a new sheet to log down their required lessons. Please be sure to sign your child's online homework folder every week. Please continue to do a wellness check before your child comes to school. All curriculum worksheets for language arts, science and social studies were organized into your child's folders on Thursday. All students will be keeping these folders in their backpacks on a daily basis. In the event of school closure or if your child is sick and has to stay home for several days, they will already have the necessary materials. If your child is at home and needs their textbooks, we can arrange a pickup time. Google classroom will be used to clarify assignments and provide instructions for your child to follow when they are at home. Thank you for your continued support! Have a great weekend! Stay safe. Please let me know if you have any questions.
