ALL ABOUT ME
I have a Bachelors degree in Accounting, and a Masters degree in Elementary Education. I grew up in Mississippi, and have a fond love of Southern food. My husband was in the Air Force for 21 years. We fell in love with Hawaii, and I fell in love with the Moanalua Elementary family, so when he retired we decided make Hawaii our permanent home. While we were a part of the Air Force, we lived in many places, including large cities such as Las Vegas, NV and Seoul, South Korea, and small towns such as Sumter, SC and Bossier City, LA.
MY PHILOSOPHY
I am passionate about education. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and work hard to instill the same love of learning in my students. My job is not to teach them facts, but to teach them to be critical thinkers, and how to use tools and resources to find information they need. You will often hear me refer to you as "families" instead of "parents". I strive to be inclusive of all the various forms of family my students come from. Many families are in multigenerational homes, are not traditional 2 parent homes, or are from foster homes. It is very important to me that I make sure every student feels included and part of our class family. I view you and I as partners to grow and develop these amazing children you are trusting me with. I communicate very openly and honestly, so I welcome you to message me at any time you have a question or concern.
