Moanalua Elementary School provides students in grades 4 through 6 with opportunities to participate in a Service Group program. Each service group is unique and meets once a week on Wednesdays. One of the oldest groups is TechBusters, started in 2003. TechBusters accepts applications at the beginning of the year from interested students. Interviews are held and a maximum of 12 students are accepted.
Throughout the year, students work with the school's technology and learn how to clean and maintain equipment (ie. printers, computers, interactive boards), how to use different types of hardware (iPads, computers, printers, chromebooks), and how to use different types of software (ie. KidPix, Google apps). As a service group, the students assist in keeping the school's equipment clean and in good condition as well as learning a few tips and tricks so they can assist their peers and even teachers in the classroom!
